LIVE FROM THE PIT: Kid Kapichi and Blue Stragglers at the Gibson Garage Anniversary

Jake Longhurst

On Monday February 24th, Gibson's London store, the Gibson Garage, celebrated its one year anniversary. To mark the occasion, not only were two of the UK's most entertaining live acts asked to come down, but Merc Clothing also got involved and made a line of clothes in collaboration with Gibson. We headed down to check out the bands, and see what all the fuss was about.

The limited edition clothing line will be sold at the Gibson Garage, and is inspired by the British music scene across the decades. It draws particular influence from the Mod scene, and cuts a sharp figure onstage or off. The line features a tshirt with a black Les Paul and Mod symbol, a black crewcut shirt with the Gibson and Merc logos, a polo with the same, and a very sharp looking bomber jacket.

In order to commemorate the event fully, two of the UK's best live acts were asked to perform, and promptly rocked the socks off of everyone in attendance. Blue Stragglers drove their fuzzy, distorted blues through the speakers and jammed as hard as any band you'll see, with plenty of grit and boatloads of fun. It was then Kid Kapichi's turn, and they didn't disappoint - the snarky Hastings group kept things as riotous as ever, with songs like '999' and 'Sardines' adding a political edge to their set, whilst 'Tamagotchi' gave them space to be a bit more light-hearted.

It was a pleasure and a privilege for Out Of Rage to attend the event, and we're sure to see some of the management team repping one or two of the items from the new clothing line here and jamming out to some Kid Kap!
